Eddie v. Lepp, 2024 ONCA 55, leave to appeal to SCC dismissed July 25, 2024

The Ontario Court of Appeal dismissed an appeal by the defendant from a Superior Court judgment awarding the plaintiff $500,000 general and aggravated damages and $50,000 punitive damages for defamatory publications on the defendant’s website and defamatory emails to many people.  The Court found that the defamatory publications were repeated continuously over five years, and resulted in the plaintiff’s loss of her employment. The defendant’s application for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada was dismissed on July 25, 2024.
